Training and promotion of young talent

Fraunhofer IZM has set itself the goal of increasingly attracting young people to technical developments and professions in technology and research.

In addition to vocational and university education, we have already recognized the need to introduce children and adolescents to technical issues at an early stage and to motivate them to work in research, for example. Early experiences and success stories should lay the foundation for the urgently needed qualified and highly motivated junior staff in the technology sector.

Offers for pupils
For a long time, Fraunhofer IZM has been involved in vocational training for the promotion of young technical talent. One reason for this is the decline in qualified applicants, which is likely to worsen in the future due to demographic trends. It is therefore important to inform more young people about training and study opportunities in technical occupations and to inspire them with practically oriented offers. Through various events, we enable children and adolescents to take a look behind the scenes of research. Thus, several times during the Long Night of Sciences, the clean room could be visited. Pupils are led by IZM employees at technical fairs over stands, in addition, children can attend the TUB student school days or to the Girls’
