Polar Instruments is a market leader in designing and manufacturing tools to simplify and enhance the design, fabrication and testing of printed circuit boards (PCBs). Polar develops and supplies innovative products including the industry-standard Controlled Impedance Test System (CITS) which provides the global PCB industry with an easy-to-use test system for high-speed digital and RF boards, as well as class-leading tools for fast and accurate design and testing of controlled impedance in PCBs.

Established in 1976 with operations and channel partners in the US, UK, Europe and Asia Pacific, Polar also leads the industry in tools for PCB layer stackup design and documentation.

From the 1990s to the present day Polar has concentrated on high speed electronics – following the market trend for ever faster communications. Initially with test equipment to measure the high speed performance of circuit boards in their raw state, Polar CITS controlled impedance test systems are synonymous with testing high speed circuit boards in the tight knit community of specialist manufacturers who laminate and etch many layers of fibreglass and copper which form the basis of all electronic devices.
