Research, development and production from a single source
FTCAP finds the right capacitor for you! In the development and production of capacitors, we can respond flexibly to customer requirements and work together to develop individual solutions.
In order to be able to produce the innovative capacitors to perfection, FTCAP has a department for manufacturing technology. These employees are experts for special machine construction and toolmaking – so we can develop and build the systems for our special requirements. Not only do we have good ideas for new capacitors, we can also implement these individual solutions technically.
One example of FTCAP’s custom solutions is “all-in-one” film capacitors, which we produce for a manufacturer of power systems – Paul Vahle GmbH. The custom-made capacitors are used in transfer systems in production or warehouses, where they compensate for dc voltages. For practicable use in the system, these capacitors must be designed for continuous currents up to 70 A at a frequency of 20 kHz and at the same time be voltage-proof up to several 100 V. The film capacitors from FTCAP can meet these requirements. A very special design also makes it possible to adjust the required capacity individually when adjusting the CPS system. The design of the capacitors was very low impedance especially for AC applications, what a particularly robust film is needed. The low internal resistance leads to low heat losses and high current carrying capacity.
Another example is the special capacitor units used in Knorr-Bremse PowerTech on-board converters – these in turn will ensure a reliable energy supply in the new vehicles of S-Bahn Hamburg (type ET 490). The individual capacitors function as DC link capacitors in the overall system. Above all, a good thermal connection to the heat sink and a simple but robust mechanical structure are important. No problem for the FTCAP custom capacitor units: they consist of many individual, internally interconnected film capacitors. This reduces the procurement effort and the interconnection of the individual capacitors is eliminated. The units were built very low inductively to cover higher switching frequencies. For optimum heat dissipation to the heat sink FTCAP worked among other things with special materials and special winding structures. In addition, the capacitor has been designed and reinforced by the FTCAP design engineers to meet the high demands of vibration resistance.
