Winter and Smith are proud to be British – all of our design and manufacturing is carried out in the UK.

Until 2005 100% of our turnover was generated by recommendations from current and previous customers. Three of our new clients have recently admitted that they approached numerous other companies before finding us, and we were the only company they felt that understood their needs and were capable of producing a first class product. All of these companies have returned to us for further work.

Many of our customers have told us “we can buy something on the internet that does 90% of what we need it to do, however it is the other 10% that will define our product from that of our competitors and is our unique selling point”.

In 2014 we invested in an additional surface mount production line, doubling our capacity, reducing the size of components we can work with while improving placement accuracy. We have also invested in 3D plastic printing equipment, allowing us to also produce custom plastic enclosures, mechanical parts and prototypes.

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded “BEST SMALL BUSINESS” for the North Kent area, and have also been awarded the status of “PLATINUM MASTER” by Microchip Technology, for our expertise using microprocessor based products

We are fully capable of taking an initial design concept and turning it into a manufactured product. The services we can offer include:

Product design – we can turn a sketch into a finished product and produce it too.
Prototype design (We can etch and build PCB’s in-house to reduce tooling costs).

Designs for many prestigious Clients including the BBC, Mercedes F1, ICI & De La Rue.
Fully RoHS compliant manufacturing facilities.
We can handle design work for one off systems; low or high-volume orders and our prices are always competitive. We also have a comprehensive machine shop, to enable us to create complete systems and prototypes in house.

We were recently audited by the Marshalls of the United States Food and Drug Administration for the approval to manufacture electronics devices suitable for import into the USA.

In view of the current coronavirus outbreak and its impact on the worldwide supply chain, Winter & Smith have recently invested heavily in stock and parts to minimise any impact on our customers.
