About us
The Scientific Instruments Dresden GmbH (ScIDre) is an international technology company and sees itself as a partner of science. A powerful team of engineers and scientists develops equipment and technologies for use in basic physical science and applied science.
history
ScIDre was founded in 2009 as a spin-off from the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW Dresden). The know-how of a plant developed there for single crystal growth in the zone melting process under high gas pressures – the high-pressure crystal growing plant HKZ – was handed over as one of the first products to the young company. ScIDre has carried out a fundamental development of this system and has since successfully marketed it worldwide. Building on its experience in high gas pressures and high temperatures, ScIDre continues to develop other innovative devices for the preparation and execution of scientific crystal growths and other experiments in various fields of solid state physics and materials science.
plant development
One of ScIDre’s main business is the development and manufacturing of unique scientific equipment designed to the needs and specifications of scientists. In basic research and applied natural science, the demands on apparative equipment have been rising steadily. For outstanding scientific and experimental results, individually designed special systems are often indispensable.
technology transfer
In close cooperation with universities and non-university institutes, we market scientific devices and technologies that are being developed in the research facilities and are already being used there successfully. Universities and other public research institutes are often unable to satisfy market demand for self-developed technologies for capacity or legal reasons, despite the fact that they often attract considerable interest in Germany and abroad after they have been made public. This is where the partnership with ScIDre comes in. On the basis of transparent license and cooperation agreements, ScIDre takes over the necessary know-how from the partner institution. In addition, ScIDre carries out further own engineering activities. They make it possible to bring the systems, which may be in prototype status, to marketability as well as make customer-specific adjustments. Finally, SciDre takes care of the regulatory documentation and clarification of all legal issues involved in the commercialization of a research device.
