Evolution of surface and light
The Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Beam and Plasma Technology FEP in Dresden is dedicated to the development of innovative solutions, technologies and processes for the refinement of surfaces and for organic electronics.
We use our core competencies electron beam technology, sputtering, plasma activated high rate deposition, high rate PECVD as well as technologies for organic electronics and IC / system design to solve a variety of industrial problems in surface treatment, vacuum coating and organic semiconductors.
We offer a wide range of research, development and pilot manufacturing capabilities , in particular for the treatment, structuring and finishing of surfaces as well as for OLED microdisplays, organic and inorganic sensors, optical filters and flexible OLED lighting. Our work areas are subdivided into 7 business units, which are organized on the basis of the different materials and geometries to be processed or due to special technological synergies.
The deposition of single layers and multilayer coating systems as well as the processing of surfaces have great practical importance across all industries. In addition, the development and integration of flexible organic electronics, OLED devices and OLED-on-silicon technologies offers a wide range of advantages and opportunities for novel applications such as: As wearables, data glasses, flexible bulbs or microdisplays with sensor functions in environmental or medical applications.
Whether in mechanical engineering, in the use of solar energy in the smart building and architecture sector, in the packaging industry, biomedical engineering, agriculture, cultural heritage or optics, sensors and electronics: We develop suitable processes and technologies as well as the corresponding prototypes , components and components key technological components for our worldwide customers from industry, research, science or thepublic area .
Feasibility studies to evaluate surface coating or integration of organic electronics into your components and pilot production to support the launch of new products from our customers are also part of our range of services. The scaling up of the technologies on an industrial scale as well as the integration in a suitable plant engineering and in existing manufacturing processes as well as the possibility of the technology transfer and the licensing are essential services of our institute. We always keep an eye on the cost-effectiveness of the technologies used in industrial production.
In public research projects of various funding agencies, we work together with companies, research institutes and institutions to develop new, forward-looking technologies and continuously expand our extensive know-how. This knowledge and our competences enable us to accompany our customers in their research and development projects from the concept phase to industrial implementation.
