MERLIN – established in microbiological diagnostics
MERLIN develops and produces a large number of products for the automated identification (ID) and sensitivity determination (AST) of bacteria and yeasts. These are used in routine laboratories in the human and veterinary field as well as in scientific and industrial laboratories.
Since 1990, MERLIN has been introducing numerous standard and special products to the international market in its diversified product family MICRONAUT. MERLIN’s special strength is shown in the production of special plates that are individually configured for the customer.
MICRONAUT AST systems – Resistance determination of bacteria and germs
In the field of antimicrobial susceptibility testing, MICRONAUT AST systems combine proven technology with maximum flexibility. The user chooses:
Antibiotics configuration
Around 200 anti-infectives – individually and in combinations
method
MIC or breakpoint methods or combined, phenotypic confirmatory tests such as e.g. ESBL or MRSA can be integrated
test configuration
One, two or four tests per plate
test system
Fast testing in 6 hours or overnight with 12-24 hours
Country-specific standard for result interpretation:
EUCAST, CLSI, SFM or others.
The wide range of human and veterinary antibiotics is complemented by a broad spectrum of antimycotics for susceptibility testing of yeasts. New anti-infectives will be added to the product portfolio shortly after their market launch. The focus is also on the continuous expansion of tests for the detection of new clinically relevant resistance mechanisms.
MICRONAUT ID Systems – Identification of Bacteria and Yeasts
MICRONAUT ID systems are based on biochemical detection reactions. This identifies 400 clinically relevant bacteria and yeasts. The system design takes into account the specific requirements in routine diagnostics, e.g. GP, GN, Bacillus and yeasts.
An ingenious modular system enables the medical laboratory technician to individually assemble various ID systems for specific use in the laboratory routine.
The test configuration determines the simultaneous testing of 2 to 8 isolates per microtiter plate.
The test system distinguishes between the fast test in 5 to 6 hours and the overnight testing in 18 to 24 hours
