20 successful years of radar development
smartmicro is a registered trademark of s.m.s, smart microwave sensors GmbH from Braunschweig. Since its founding in 1997, we have become one of the world’s largest manufacturers of traffic management radar sensors.
As a spin-off of the Institute for Telecommunications of the Technical University of Braunschweig, Mende and Prof. dr. rer. nat. Blank first developed for customers from the automotive industry successful radar sensors. The field of traffic monitoring by radars has also established itself as a second pillar. Here we cover not only the classic areas such as speed measurement, intersection monitoring and counting (eg on highways). In future topics such as the creation of so-called “Smart Cities” and C2I (Car-to-Infrastructure) communication, we make an important contribution with our solutions.
Today, 110+ employees work in state-of-the-art, proprietary buildings, which were completed in 2011 and 2017. Offices and laboratories are distributed over 3,600 m², with another 1,000 m² of test area and production facilities following.
