Digital decoration technology: the revolution for the packaging market
Whether bottles, cans or tubes: with Dekron’s digital decoration technology, containers of a wide variety of materials and shapes can be individually printed on. Producers of consumer goods and packaging are thus opening up completely new worlds in the design of their products. In contrast to conventional labels, digital decoration technology even works on reliefs and other structures on the packaging surface. This makes it easy to create amazing combinations of look and feel.
Sounds like a lot of production? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that! With the Dekron all-in-one package, you can start immediately at the touch of a button: simply select individual artwork, print just in time – and the wow effect is ready.
Dekron: the Krones subsidiary for digital decoration technology
Under the name of Dekron, the Group subsidiary now bundles the entire technology portfolio for digital decoration technology.
The Krones product portfolio for the digital decoration of primary packaging was previously split between two companies: Krones AG and Till GmbH, where Krones already held a majority stake of 51 percent since 2014. After successfully presenting the jointly developed machine portfolio DecoType at drinktec 2017, it was time for the next logical step: to consolidate the knowledge and technologies of both sides in an agile and highly innovative unit.
To this end, Krones acquired the remaining shares in Till GmbH at the beginning of March 2018, bundling all of its business activities relating to digital decoration technology. In order to make its clearly strengthened role visible to the outside, the subsidiary has been operating under the name of Dekron since April. The word “Decoration” and “Krones” underlines both the technological specialization of the company as well as its 100% belonging to the group family.
Continuity inside
As the company’s headquarters, the Till site in Kelkheim near Frankfurt will be continued – not least to keep the well-rehearsed team of employees and their valuable knowledge and experience in the company. In order to position the company member optimally for his upcoming tasks, Krones will specifically expand its infrastructure and personnel. This applies both to the location in Kelkheim and to the planned second establishment.
Likewise, Krones relies on continuity in the management of Dekron. Because the management is made up of Sven Kerpe and Friederike Kalusche. The latter already filled out this position in the Till GmbH and had built up the company from the beginning. Her colleague Sven Kerpe was previously responsible for bottling technology at Krones for digital decoration technology.
