About us
The German mechanical engineering industry is the international leader. With currently more than 1,000,000 employees, mechanical and plant engineering is the largest industrial employer. He develops and produces key technologies for the world market. With high export quotas and a turnover of around 218 billion euros, it is one of the leading industrial sectors in Germany.
The VDMA (German Engineering Federation) has been representing medium-sized companies in the capital goods industry for 125 years. Today, the association has around 3,200 members, making it the largest industry association in Europe. It deals with the common economic, technical and scientific interests of mechanical engineering, in particular with national and international authorities and business circles. Members have the right to information, advice and assistance within the interests perception.
The association is divided into 15 cross-sectional divisions, representative offices in Berlin and Brussels, liaison offices in Brazil, China, India, Japan and Russia, 38 trade associations and consortiums, international committees and forums, 6 regional associations and several service organizations.
