Our passion – grinding tools and services that create high quality surfaces for our customers.
Our story begins in 1927 in Hamburg-Lurup, where Carl Christiansen founded his company Norddeutsche Schleifmittel-Industrie GmbH 90 years ago. What starts as a peasant kate at the time is today a medium-sized traditional Hamburg company that has established itself as one of the most important manufacturers of grinding tools worldwide and whose products convince by their outstanding quality – www.hermes-schleifwerkzeuge.com .

We owe our significant market position to the continuous development of new grinding solutions, involving our customers and using our decades of experience. Flat hierarchies and short decision-making processes not only allow us to respond quickly to all product requirements in the market, but also give our employees the freedom to bring their ideas to the company and to make things happen effectively.

As a company, we take responsibility for people and the environment. That is why we ask ourselves every day which working time models correspond to social developments or how we can improve the entire production process in addition to technical and economic aspects, including from an ecological point of view. In this international environment, Hermes has grown into a complete supplier of flexible abrasives, precision abrasives and technical services related to grinding. With the result: Hermes products have become indispensable in the grinding tool industry.

For our products and grinding solutions, we conduct research every day in our in-house R & D laboratories and, for theory, to become an excellent practice, undergo extensive testing in our engineering centers.
