Drinking water
The Elastomer Guideline issued by the Federal Environmental Agency (UBA) in 2011 specifies which starting materials may be used in accordance with the principles of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for the production of elastomers. However, the transitional period of the Elastomer Guidelines of the UBA ends on 31.12.2021. As a result, many sulfur-crosslinked mixtures for cold and hot water applications that were previously established in the drinking water sector may no longer be used from this point onwards.
Here we offer an innovative and efficient solution for the drinking water market. Thus, at the end of 2018, the KRAIBURG Pure series of compounds was created , which can also be used after 2021 in elastomer applications for the drinking water sector.
KRAIBURG Pure Blends have the German, British and French drinking water certificates. In this context, the component testing according to the Elastomer Guideline of the UBA (cold and hot water) was initiated. Therefore, in the future, these component tests – in consultation with the test institute – will suffice for our test panels, provided that the finished parts have similar dimensions or only a small contact surface with the water.
In addition, the recipe design complies with the requirements of the aqueous food safe list of CFR 21 §177.2600, FDA “Rubber Articles Intended For Repeated Use” of the United States Food and Drug Administration.
The series of mixtures also has the usual efficient rheometry of the currently current mixtures in the drinking water sector and impresses with its long shelf life, which allows a minimum durability of 120 days (storage according to DIN 7716).
