Amgen – Pioneer of biotechnology
Amgen is the world’s largest independent biotechnology company. 17,000 employees in America, Europe and Asia are convinced that biotechnology has the potential to treat previously invincible diseases. The ambitious goal of helping the sick, combined with scientific curiosity, creativity and passion, ensures a high level of motivation.
In Germany Amgen is represented by three companies
Amgen GmbH in Munich, founded in 1989, has been active in clinical research and the marketing and distribution of Amgen medicines in Germany for more than 20 years. Around 400 employees work for the satisfaction of our customers and patients every day, both internally and externally.
Amgen has two research sites in Germany. Since the year 2000 there is in Regensburg the Amgen Research GmbH. High Throughput Screening identifies chemical starting points for new product development. About 15 million compounds are tested each year.
Since March 2012, the former Micromet is part of Amgen’s Research & Development division and is now called Amgen Research (Munich) GmbH. Around 200 employees work here in biotechnological research, especially BiTE technology and the resulting development of bi-specific antibodies.
