About us
The company puren gmbh based in Überlingen am Bodensee with its managing director Dr. Ing. Andreas Huther has existed for 50 years. As a result, the medium-sized, internationally active group of companies, which now numbers around 300, is one of the pioneers in the field of polyurethane (PUR / PIR) rigid foam technology. puren is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001: 2000.

Innovation from the beginning

The subject of innovation was accompanied by company founder Hans Bommer from the beginning of the company: In 1968, rigid polyurethane foam in Germany was virtually unknown. By accident, Hans Bommer got to know this multifunctional and high-performance insulation material, and he quickly recognized its versatility. After some exploratory trips on the technical characteristics and manufacturing processes, he began in a kind of “workshop” and with only one other employee, the first PUR foam blocks to assemble. The entrepreneurial spirit was soon bearing fruit, and over the years the two-man business became the current group of companies with several production and sales locations nationwide and a joint venture in China.

At puren, topics such as environmental protection, energy conservation and resource conservation have always played a major role. At the beginning of the seventies, when nobody was talking about topics such as climate, water and nature conservation, CO2 savings or the greenhouse effect, Bommer was recycling the production residues and developing the functional material purenit as well as efficient oil and chemical binders for soils and water ahead of its time. To this day, this is reflected in the company philosophy “Energy gains and pollutant reduction through insulation, heating and environmental technologies using innovative products” again.
