About us
GGB Heilbronn GmbH
GGB is the world’s largest manufacturer of plain bearings and partners for surface technology. With more than 1,100 employees worldwide, global manufacturing plants, and an extensive network of local offices and distributors, GGB’s team of experts provide expert and prompt customer care.
GGB’s more than 100-year history dates back to 1899, when the Glacier Antifriction Metal Company was founded in London, England. Glacier has launched many successful products, including two internationally recognized sliding bearing materials: the DU® metal-polymer plain bearing material with steel back, bronze and PTFE liner (1956), and the thermoplastic film-based, marginal lubricated, DX® plain bearing material (1965). In 2002, Goodrich Corporation outsources EnPro Industries to shareholders and Glacier Garlock Bearings becomes a company of EnPro Industries. EnPro is a leading manufacturer of technical products for the manufacturing and manufacturing industries worldwide.
With the landing on Mars 2012 aboard the NASA rover Curiosity, GGB continues to explore new territories. The Curiosity drill can take rock samples from the Martian landscape under extreme conditions. Three DU® metal-polymer plain bearings serve as the main suspension components for the drill spindle, one of four robust components.
