About us
Trench Austria was founded in 1954 by Alois Esslinger, who is well known beyond the borders of Austria. The name of the company was from its foundation until the year 1990 Spezielektra Esslinger KG.

Right from the beginning, the design and manufacture of reactors was at the center of corporate activity. Revolutionary for the 50s was the use of glass fiber reinforced plastic elements for insulation purposes in choke coils.

Trench Austria gained international recognition in the 1960s with the supply of high current and high voltage test reactors for international test fields, such as the KEMA in Arnhem / Netherlands.

In 1990, Spezielektra was merged with Trench Electric Toronto / Canada. This was the starting point for the formation of today’s Trench Group.

Today, Trench Austria manufactures exclusively choke coils for medium and high voltage technology, both in dry and oil-insulated versions, at its location in Leonding and ranks among the world’s leading companies in this niche area of ​​electrical energy technology.
