The mission of the IKV in research, teaching and industry
The Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) in Industry and Trade at RWTH Aachen University is Europe’s leading research and training institute in the field of plastics technology.

The combination of science and industry forms the central research core at the institute. Practical research consistently builds on basic scientific research and enables the use of research results in industrial practice. There are many opportunities for companies in the industry to use qualified services or to cooperate with the institute.

With the Chair of Plastics Processing, the IKV is part of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the RWTH Aachen University. Students of plastics technology have access to state-of-the-art and technically excellently equipped institute technologies. With the academic teaching the IKV secures the qualification of junior engineers in the plastics industry.

The IKV network covers all areas of the plastics industry. With more than 290 members worldwide – companies, research institutes, associations – the institute is in constant dialogue and secures the relevance of its research in this way.
