The name of the company goes back to the car manufacturer founded in 1888 and renamed 1916 in PhänomenWerke Gustav Hiller AG – Zittau, whose products enjoyed an excellent reputation for their quality, modern technology and reliability. Initially bicycles were produced, later motorcycles and then passenger cars and trucks. For reasons of legal protection, the company had to be renamed “Robur-Werke-Zittau” in 1957 .
