The institute belongs to the Faculty of Medicine of the FAU and is part of the Emil Fischer Center.

Institute of Biochemistry – Line Drawing

Since 1978, the Institute of Biochemistry (until 1985 Institute of Physiological Chemistry) in the driveway headquarters of two chairs and numerous working groups.

The main research areas of the institute are neurosciences and oncology with a focus on molecular genetic, biochemical and bioinformatics basics. Teachers of the institute are engaged in the education of students of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, medical technology and molecular medicine.

The Institute of Biochemistry together with the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology of the Faculty of Medicine and the chairs and professors of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Food Chemistry of the Institute of Chemistry of the Faculty of Natural Sciences form the Emil Fischer Center (EFZ).
