Within the Department of Mechanical Engineering the Institute of Manufacturing Technology is responsible for all scientific questions concerning metal forming processes. Topics regarding sheet metal and bulk metal forming are both adressed. The combination of both fields called Sheet-Bulk Metal Forming will become a new focus of the institute’s research work. In order to keep track of all different aspects of the processes in question the LFT is always trying to have an interdisciplinary team. The close cooperation with the other institutes of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the other departments of the Technical Faculty as well as our numerous friends nationally and internationally is most helpful in keeping a broad view on metal forming.
