Our incoming goods: Quality from the first work step
As soon as deliveries of goods are accepted, the incoming goods inspection takes place. Since January 2016, this has been partially automated for SMD and smaller THT production materials using a scan system from MODI Modular Digits GmbH. This noticeably improves the incoming goods process in terms of speed and error rate. In addition, the new scan system is the starting signal for traceability at Kolb.
Printed circuit boards are checked using a measurable microscope in accordance with the AQL, IPC and PERFAC guidelines by a specialist who is exclusively responsible for inspecting incoming goods.
Our storage system: efficient and flexible
Production materials, as well as semi-finished and finished products, are stored either in the flexible XP500 Logicontrol shuttle system from the manufacturer Kardex or in the high-bay warehouse , which, among other things, is geared towards the use of lattice boxes. The automated storage system offers a net storage volume of a total of 220 m³ and enables the rapid storage and retrieval of raw materials and assemblies thanks to the trays running at speeds of up to 120 meters per minute.
In order to meet the increased demand for storage space, Kolb has invested in an automatic small parts warehouse (AKL) of the type MLOG from Kardex. This identifies and transports goods fully automatically, at a travel speed of up to 140 meters per minute. The system, which is almost 25 meters long and 7 meters high, offers storage space for 2,500 ESD boxes. The ergonomic design of the warehouse means that employees no longer have to lift goods during storage and retrieval.
A K-Tech BK-04A strapping device enables SMD production materials to be strapped efficiently and cost-effectively for processing suitable for SMD machines. Due to the wide range of strapping options of the system, strapping by external service providers rarely has to be resorted to.
