About us
NEANDER MOTORS has developed a world-class technology that creates a more economical and greener generation of diesel engines and air compressors: the “Double Crankshaft”.
In the engine sector, this technology opens up the construction of compact and, above all, vibration-free units. For the first time, fuel-efficient diesel engines in various markets can replace petrol engines and thus contribute effectively to CO2 reduction.
The foundation of Neander Motor Vehicles GmbH in 2003 laid the foundation for our current company. The aim of the company was a small series of a turbo diesel engine with double crankshaft. Only two years later was the day of the first registration of the Neander, the world’s first turbo diesel motorcycle.
In 2006, the company was renamed to NEANDER MOTORS AG. Only three years later (2009) proved u.a. The presentation of the Schmidt-Römhild Technology Prize by the Schleswig-Holstein Minister for Science, Economics and Transport, the genius of the idea.
The basic development of the technology was successfully completed for use as a motor and as a compressor:
• with the realization of the world’s first turbo diesel motorcycle and
• with the development of the world’s first oil-free brake compressor for commercial vehicles.
NEANDER SHARK
To further develop the first application of Neander technology, Neander Shark GmbH was founded in 2009 as a wholly owned subsidiary of NEANDER MOTORS AG. Neander Shark GmbH develops the world’s first turbodiesel outboard engine.
It is funded by the “Wirtschaftsförderung und Technologietransfer Schleswig-Holstein GmbH” (WTSH).
With the NEANDER technology diesel fuel can finally be used again in the market of outboard engines:
The diesel engine is the preferred boat propulsion system for commercial shipping, especially when it comes to trouble-free diesel fuel availability, powerful propulsion, economy, durability and reliability.
But so far turbo diesel engines were not available for outboard propulsion.
Only now opens the 50 hp NEANDER 2-cylinder turbo diesel engine with double, counter-rotating crankshaft due to its compactness combined with high performance combined with a previously unrealisable low vibration for the first time the ecologically beneficial and economical use in an outboard.
The advantages of the NEANDER diesel engine:
lower CO2 emissions
more economical fuel logistics through better availability of diesel
Up to 40% reduction in operating costs through lower fuel consumption and
lower prices of diesel fuel (partial tax exemption)
longer range with the same weight
higher safety due to lower flammability (risk of explosion of petrol)
lower investment costs due to lower demands on safety devices for diesel fuel
Thanks to a strong 30-member team and renowned international partner companies such as Davis Engineering, USA (design), Selva Marine, Italy (production and assembly), Bosch, India (engine management system), BorgWarner, Germany (exhaust gas turbocharger), the University of Applied Sciences, Munich (engineering and design), FEV (engine calibration FEV Germany and calculations FEV USA) and Yanmar Marine International as a worldwide, exclusive distribution partner, the engine has now gone into series production in 2017 and is now in addition to the primary purpose in commercial shipping now also the general water sports to disposal.
