The Fraunhofer Institute for Foundry, Composite and Processing Technology (IGCV) bundles research and development in the areas of lightweight casting technologies, fiber composites and automated manufacturing. As a future Fraunhofer Institute, the Augsburg facility operates production and processing technology research with direct application relevance. The competencies range from materials science and structural mechanics to production technology and production.

With the endeavor to sustainably reduce resource consumption in manufacturing companies and to achieve a technological lead, the more than 125 scientists generate innovations for German industry. In the form of short- and medium-term bilateral projects, we support our partners in designing new solutions. Cooperation in medium and long-term research projects makes it possible to exploit future potentials at an early stage.

We are shaping the way to the future of efficient engineering, networked production and intelligent multi-media solutions to ensure the sustainable competitiveness of Germany and Europe.
