About us
In 1869, the parent company, the “Commandit-Gesellschaft für Pumpen- und Maschinenfabrikation W. Garvens” was founded in Wülfel near Hanover.
The family business, which was run by the brothers Wilhelm and Emil Garvens, became a stock corporation with a worldwide reputation. Leading at home and abroad were mainly manufactured scales and pumps of all kinds.
After the economic crisis of 1931, the shareholders Karl Schrader, Fritz Schapitz and Kurt Wolff successfully put the current “Garvens-Waagen-Fabrik GmbH” on a new footing. Started with only seven employees, later over six hundred were engaged in the production and development of scales. The product range, for which there were numerous patents and protective covers, ranged from the smallest scale to scales weighing 200 tons for locomotives and automatic high-performance scales.
In 1969, Fritz Bach, the former sales director of the Garvens-Waagen-Fabrik GmbH and owner of the company Kilomatic Wiegetechnische GmbH, took over the company by purchase. He thus expanded the profile of his company on the production of industrial scales, which included, among other things, tilt scales, illuminated image scales and vehicle scales.
Currently the company Garvens-Waagen-Fabrik GmbH is connected with the largest balance group in Germany.
