The company smartGAS Mikrosensorik GmbH develops, produces and sells innovative gas sensors based on infrared technology (IR). These IR gas sensors make it possible to detect gases very selectively and to precisely determine their concentration. The spectrum of measurable gases is constantly expanding. The sensors are offered as customer-specific OEM modules and are used in the fields of safety technology, refrigeration and air-conditioning technology, high-voltage engineering, analysis equipment and process measurement technology.

Gas sensors based on infrared absorption offer decisive advantages over electrochemical and catalytic sensors. Since the sensor principle exploits the property of gases to absorb infrared radiation at a specific, characteristic wavelength, such sensors operate very selectively and show little cross sensitivity to other gases. Also, such sensors practically do not age, unlike other gas sensors.
