VULKAN Clutch and Transmission Bernhard Hackforth GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Herne, Germany, is part of the VULKAN Group and a medium-sized family owned company that manufactures highly flexible couplings, brake systems, elastic bearings and shaft systems for ship propulsion, generator applications and industrial drives.

VULKAN Coupling and Transmission Construction comprises the divisions VULKAN Couplings (maritime applications and stationary power generation) and VULKAN Drive Tech (industrial applications). VULKAN couplings have been used worldwide for many decades in cruise ships, work and container ships as well as in the oil and gas industry, mining or materials handling.

The 125-year-old company is owned solely by the Hackforth family and employs around 1,200 people at 20 locations worldwide, including five production sites in Germany, Brazil, USA, China and India.
