About us
Ultrasonic welding of plastics – packaging materials – nonwovens – metals is our business! Ultrasonic welding is joining without gluing, screwing or heat input from the outside. Materials are selectively melted by means of ultrasonic vibration and positively and materially connected. As an economical production process with fast cycle times, ultrasonic welding offers high process control and reproducible quality.
Herrmann Ultraschall is a manufacturer of welding machines for plastics, packaging materials, nonwovens and non-ferrous metals. As a technology market leader and hidden champion, the South German company based in Karlsbad has established a worldwide presence: in Europe, the USA and Asia. Its customers include well-known manufacturers from the automotive, electronics, medical technology, food, packaging and hygiene industries. Everything about education and career can be found here .
Herrmann trains junior staff in technical and commercial occupations as well as in dual studies. Students can study and incidentally practice air interns or working students, but also graduates with their own thesis / thesis. In addition, the internal Herrmann Academy was founded in 2011, which, in addition to training new employees, also provides incentives for the further training of established employees. The basis for a high level of motivation and goal-oriented cooperation are the guiding principles and corporate philosophy of Herrmann Ultraschall.
Founded in 1961 by Walter Herrmann, this family-owned company now has around 350 employees worldwide and is the technology leader for machines, systems and components for ultrasonic welding of plastics, ultrasonic sealing of packaging materials and ultrasonic joining of nonwovens.
Ultrasonic welding is joining without glue or screws and without external heat supply. Plastics are selectively melted by means of ultrasonic vibration and positively or materially connected. As an economical production process with fast cycle times, ultrasonic welding offers high process control and reproducible quality and is used in many industries such as automotive, medical technology, packaging, consumer and electronics.
Headquartered in Karlsbad, Baden-Württemberg, with 21 Tech Centers worldwide and its own branches in America, China and Japan, the mechanical engineer Herrmann Ultraschall offers its customers global presence and local service. The product family includes ultrasonic welding machines and modules for 20, 30 and 35 kHz.
Ultrasonic engineering
It is the longtime knowledge of the industry and the expertise in all questions of application, machine technology and welding technology that distinguish Herrmann Ultraschall. In addition to the actual mechanical engineering, the focus is on “Ultrasonic Engineering”, ie all services for integrating the customer’s ultrasonic process: Parameter identification and optimization in the welding laboratory, series processes, module integrations and special solutions. In the ultrasound laboratory, engineers and technicians support the welding task with the seam design. The weldability of the materials is determined and the quality of the weld made visible with the analysis options.
Anchored to the laboratory is the technical project planning , where all design requirements for the safe integration of ultrasound technology are clarified. This is especially important for special machines and automation systems and also for the installation of ultrasonic modules and systems in packaging machines or in systems for the continuous processing of films and web products:
In sonotrode construction, each welding tool (called a sonotrode) is calculated using the finite element method (FEM) and adapted to the welding task.
