The Taiwan Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers Association has already established a relatively solid foundation under the leadership of each former chairman. It can be seen that the achievements are remarkable whether in the services of members or recommendations to the government. At this crucial moment I succeed to the post and feel it a great responsibility to carry on the past and explore the ways for the future. However, I would like to express my appreciation for your supports and giving me the opportunity to learn and serve for the industry. I shall in the future do my best lest I fail your expectations.
Led by the former chairman, Mr. Chen, Kuo-Rong, the vice-chairman of Yulon Motor Co., Ltd., over the past six years, despite suffering from the financial crisis, Taiwan’s vehicle industry has maintained a steady growth under the government’s supports and the local vehicle manufacturers’ efforts. Following the steps of moving to international markets, the exchanges of cross-strait vehicle manufacturers have become frequent and closer. For example, we have participated in many international vehicle exhibitions in China, have operated in accordance with the government’s rules to promote cross-strait exchanges activities. Of which, the most outstanding achievement is “Cross-strait Meeting” convened for six consecutive years between bilateral vehicle industries. The former chairman has also taken the initiative in pushing the vehicle products on the early harvest list of ECFA. Because of that, there are thirty three items of auto parts and seventeen items of bicycles and their related parts listed for tariff cuts. Thanks to the benefits, Taiwan’s vehicle industry has thus become even more competitive in the oversea markets.
In response to the trend of globalization and liberalization, I sincerely hope that we can consolidate the strength of the industry to attain the following goals:
Strive for subsidies for discarding old and worn-out vehicles.
Join actively in the follow-up ECFA negotiations and giving recommendations for new TPP, RCEP talks.
Comply with the government policies to promote intelligent electric vehicle and develop key components.
Continue to intensify cross-strait vehicle industry exchange and cooperation, removing trade and technical barriers to explore China markets.
Constitute a unique product competition advantage by way of diverse exchange and cooperation between industries.
Organize delegations to participate in foreign exhibitions so as to help our members to explore oversea markets.
The Association will continue to act as a bridge between the government and manufacturers and keep close contact and communication with the government to assist the vehicle industry in getting the best opportunities to root deeply in Taiwan, foot firmly in China and deploy globally.
